Voyons, Voyons - Alexandra Boulat

À 45 ans, Alex se demandait encore « Qu'est-ce qu'on fera quand on sera grandes ? » Grande, même si elle persistait à l’ignorer, Alex l’était déjà, du moins dans notre monde, celui des brutes aux coeurs tendres prêtes à tout pour l’image juste, au bon moment. 
« Je suis née dans le bain de révélateur », disait Alex qui avait fait le choix de marcher sur les traces de son père dont le souvenir l’accompagnait partout. De Sarajevo à Kaboul, de Bagdad à Gaza, par tous les temps, les balles pouvaient siffler, l’eau et la nourriture manquer, le siège durer, rien ne la détournait de son objectif. Son oeil, tranchant,  sensible et différent lui vaut d’avoir collectionné les plus grands prix internationaux de photojournalisme.
« Voyons, voyons… », comme elle disait toujours. Et puis « passons… », comme elle l’aurait souhaité.

At the age of 45, Alex still kept on wondering: "What’ll we do when we grow up?" But while she refused to acknowledge it, Alex had grown up and achieved greatness, at least in our world, the world of tough men and women, soft-hearted underneath, and prepared to do anything to get the right picture at the right time.
"I was dipped into the developing tank at birth", said Alex who made a conscious choice to follow in her father’s footsteps, surrounded by memories of him. From Sarajevo to Kabul, from Baghdad to Gaza, under all and any conditions - bullets flying past, no water or food, an ongoing siege - Alex would never be put off. Her eye was sharp, perceptive and distinctive, and drew acclaim in the form of top international awards for photojournalism. 
"Come on, come on!" she used to say, then "Let’s move one." That is what she would have wanted.
